cleveland clinic foundation - luthren hospital DR. TED & JEAN CASTELE LEARNING CENTER WET-LAB
The Cleveland Clinic, one of the world's leading medical facilities, commissioned Payto Architects to renovate the circa 1970's auditorium and pre-function space into a state of the art, interactive learning center. An existing MRI and Radiology suite was converted into a Wet Lab which allows physicians to perform procedures on cadavers and limbs. The wet lab was designed to accommodate (6) student autopsy tables and (1) central professors table. The 165 seat auditorium is connected to the state-of-the-art Wet Lab through an audiovisual system which allows the audience to view and interact with those performing the procedures. This creates a surgical learning environment for 165+ particpants. This project was constructed in the lower level of Lutheran Hospital, Payto Architects worked closely with the contractors to ensure that construction did not interrupt or disrupt hospital functions in any way.
