This project for The Ohio State University consists of a stand alone, 6 level cast in place concrete parking structure to serve the OSU Medical Center. Located at the southern edge of the Columbus campus, Payto Architects was challenged to create a garage that was sympathetic to the neighborhood while working within limited site constraints. The exterior cladding consists of perforated aluminum metal in (2) colors that form a gradient pattern along the length of the facade. Color changing LED lighting illuminates the north facade while the south facade takes on a different aesthetic to screen the interior ramps of the garage. 
One of the most unique aspects of the garage is the large amount of natural daylight within the garage and the open views to the exterior. This was accomplished by lowering the perimeter crash walls to a height that maintains vehicle containment safety but opens the view to the exterior. The culmination of this design is a safe, comfortable garage with a fully screened exterior that changes with the time of day.
This project demonstrates Payto Architects ability to take a function-based, utilitarian program and create a unique, experiential piece of architecture.
